CHANDIGARH: A lookout notice has been isssued against the former Haryana additional Advocate-General, Sanjeev Bansal, who resigned on Monday after the police registered a case against him for allegedly trying to bribe High Court Judge Nirmaljit Kaur. Mr. Bansal was appointed additional Advocate-General three years ago. Haryana Advocate-General Hawa Singh Hooda said the resignation had been accepted. Two days ago, Rs.15 lakh was delivered at Justice Kaur’s doorsteps by a munshi working with Mr. Bansal. Even as a police inquiry got underway, Justice Kaur had said on Friday that she had informed the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. “I have reported the matter to the police also; now, it is up to them to investigate. There is no case before me in which Sanjeev Bansal was appearing,” she said. Parkash Ram, the munshi who had handed over the parcel had told the guard that it was a consignment from Delhi and should immediately reach Justice Kaur. He was arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA) a few days ago. ASP, Chandigarh police, Madhur Verma, said the money has been confiscated. Mr. Bansal said: “I had sent the packet for Nirmal Singh, it was advance money for a property deal. It reached Justice Kaur’s house by mistake.” The High Court Bar Association executive committee will bring the matter before its general house for a final word on Wednesday. “Since Mr. Bansal didn’t approach the bar and the matter is under investigation, we shouldn’t interfere in it,” said an executive member.
