Shimla: Gurpreet Singh Gill was, on Tuesday, appointed as Himachal Pradesh’s new Director-General of Police (DGP), a Home department notification said. A 1974 batch IPS officer, Mr. Gill succeeds Ashwani Kumar who has become the Director (CBI)). Hailing from Punjab, he was earlier Additional DGP (BSF), Chandigarh. He is likely to take charge on Wednesday, official sources said. Mr. Gill began his career as Additional Superintendent of Police (Probation) at Kangra in 1976.
