Chandigarh: The flood-hit areas of Punjab on Tuesday heaved a sigh of relief with Sutlej, Beas and Ravi rivers flowing much below the danger mark even as the Army continued to evacuate affected villagers to safer places.
The water-level in Sutlej has dropped to about six inches in most of the areas already and is receding fast, officials said. The North-West monsoon in Punjab and Haryana too has become inactive with the Met office predicting light rains at isolated places in the region. — PTI
