The office-bearers of the school cabinet at the investiture ceremony of Delhi Public School, Bangalore East. BANGALORE: Delhi Public School, Bangalore East, held its investiture ceremony recently. Brigadier I.N. Rai was the chief guest and he pinned badges on the new office-bearers of the school cabinet. Principal Manila Carvallho administered the oath to them. The new leaders promised to discharge their duties responsibly. Members of the board of management Shazia Khan and Maqsood Ali Khan were present. Azad JayantiRashtrotthana Vidya Kendra, Thanisandra, observed Chandrashekar Azad Jayanti recently. Faculty member Manjunath spoke on the life of the freedom fighter. Born to Pandit Sitaram Tiwari and Jagrani Devi, he called himself Azad (free man) and he was one of the greatest revolutionaries, Mr. Manjunath saidAzad killed himself when he was surrounded by the police, thus keeping his pledge of dying as a free man, Mr. Manjunath added. Students later paid tributes to the martyr through songs. WinnersThe team from A.V. Education Society, J.P. Nagar, emerged winners of the inter-school State-level volleyball tournament organised by Sri Rama Vidyalaya, Jayanagar. ChampionsStudents of Schoenstatt St. Mary’s High School, Nagasandra, did their school proud by winning medals at the 3rd State-level Karnataka Karate-Do Teachers’ Association Championship held at HMT Sports Club. The students secured one gold, two silver and three bronze medals. Soccer tournamentThe Ryan Five-a-side Soccer Tournament was hosted by Ryan International School, Kundalahalli recently. The team from Bishop Cotton Boys’ High School beat the team from Jain International School and lifted the rolling trophy. In all, 25 teams participated in the two-day event. The teams were equally divided into four pools A, B, C and D. Mallaya Aditi International, Jain International, Bishop Cotton and CMR College emerged winners of their respective pools to enter the semi-finals. The Bishop Cotton team beat the Jain International team 3-2 in the finals. Former FIFA referee Balu was the chief guest and gave away prizes to the teams. Utsav Kumar of Bishop Cotton was the top scorer of the tournament with 12 goals. Ashiq Salman of CMR College was the best goalkeeper, while the Fair Play award was bagged by Mallya Aditi International School. THE HINDU NIE TEAM
