State mulls awards for college, varsity teachers
HYDERABAD: To encourage young teachers in colleges and universities, the State government is toying with the idea of felicitate them with “Young Achievers” awards.
APSCHE Chairman K.C. Reddy said that 57 teachers from all the universities would be felicitated and their performance would be taken into account rather than their service while selecting the candidates. Honouring the young teachers is also part of the plan. A meeting held recently has discussed and decided on the norms for the selection apart from the numbers for each University.
Following is the allocation of awards for each University – Osmania University (3), Andhra University (3), Sri Venkateshwara University (3), Kakatiya University (2), Acharya Nagarjuna University (2), Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU), Telugu University (2) and Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (1). Similarly, teachers from affiliated colleges will also be honoured with awards. Seven teachers each from OU and AU and five teachers from SVU will be honoured.
Prof. Reddy said another idea was to honour teachers with life time achievement awards every year .
