Anti-terrorism awareness programmes to be held on August 25 HYDERABAD: The city wing of Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday demanded the State government to sack Energy, Coal and Minorities’ Welfare Minister Mohd. Ali Shabbir from the Cabinet alleging that he was aiding terrorist activities in the twin cities. Despite being a Minister, Mr. Shabbir Ali took part in the funeral rites of Mujahid, a resident of Saifabad and prime accused in the killing of Gujarat Home Minister Hiren Pandeya last year. He even gave a clean chit to the family of Mujahid, alleged BJP Greater Hyderabad president C. Ramachandra Reddy, at a press conference here on Tuesday. Recently, the Karnataka police took Mohtasim Billa, brother of Mujahid, into custody in connection with the Bangalore blasts. While the Gujarat police could solve the Ahmedabad blasts case in a month, even after one year Hyderabad police did not arrest a single culprit in the Gokul Chat and Lumbini Park blasts, he pointed out. “We will present a memorandum to Governor N.D. Tiwari in a week urging him to sack Mohd. Ali Shabbir from the Cabinet,” said Mr. Reddy. ‘Peace Run’In connection with first anniversary of the twin blasts (August 25), the city wing will organise anti-terrorism awareness programmes, including a ‘Peace Run’ from Basheerbagh to Lumbini Park on Saturday, signature campaign in 150 municipal divisions on Sunday and a public meeting at Gokul Chat on Monday. Former party chief M. Venkaiah Naidu will be attending the programmes. Mr. Reddy said that there was drinking water shortage in the twin cities and asked the government to commence the Krishna water third phase works at the earliest.
