Curbs removed on land deals in coastal corridor

State should be number one in industrial growth: YSR

Rs. 2 lakh for wet land, Rs.1.5 lakh for dry land to be paid

Gangavaram Port to be inaugurated after September 15

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has decided to remove all restrictions in the sale and purchase of land in the coastal corridor and announced that there will be no fresh land acquisition in the corridor for the present.

At a detailed review meeting held on all major infrastructure projects on Tuesday, Dr. Reddy said that in all land acquisitions for infrastructure development, farmers would be given compensation at more than government rates. He directed that a minimum of Rs. 2 lakh for wet land and Rs.1.5 lakh for dry land per acre should be paid.

Dr. Reddy emphatically said that AP should overtake Gujarat in industrial growth and become numero uno. The State is already on the top in the agricultural sector as per RBI study.

Stating that the ultimate aim was to industrialise the State, he said top priority should be given for employment generation. The Gangavaram Port would be inaugurated after September 15 and wanted land acquisition for Krishnapatnam port and work on Nellore airport to be speeded up.

It may be recalled that the Jurong International Company had backed out of the Anantapur Science City project.

Chief Minister asked APIIC to acquire land in Anantapur as per the demand of the local people and people’s representatives for industrial development.

The farmers, however, should be taken into confidence. He also said that land should not be acquired for Visakhapatnam international airport till all the clearances were in place.
