Inter-district boxing from Friday

VISAKHAPATNAM: One hundred and sixty boxers from 20 districts will participate in the 55th senior inter-district men’s boxing championship to be held at the Swarna Bharati indoor stadium here from August 22 to 24. The competitions will be held in 11 weight categories, from light fly to super heavy weight and the AP team selected during the meet would attend a camp here before leaving for the National championship to be held in Punjab from September 6 to 12, according to the secretary of District Amateur Boxing Association G.V. Ravi Raju here on Tuesday. The IGMB Club is organising the meet and Pujari Madhusudhana Rao is its organising secretary. Free accommodation and food would be provided to the boxers and about 100 officials.

Visakhapatnam scored an easy 10-wicket win over Srikakulam in a low-scoring round-robin match in the ACA North Zone under-16 inter-district match at Vizianagaram on Tuesday.

The scores: Srikakulam 75 in 43.1 overs (Nagaraju three for eight) lost to Visakhapatnam 76 for no loss in 20.4 overs (Sai Dinesh 33 n.o., Praneeth 32 n.o.).
