Ashwin, Rohit bat well

Chennai: Ashwin Venkatraman and R. Rohit made half centuries to steer City XI to 216 for six at close on the first day of its Nanal Srinivasan Trophy match against Districts XI held on Monday. Only 58 overs were possible after the start was delayed due to overnight rain.

The scores: City XI 216 for six in 58 overs (Ashwin Venkataraman 57, R. Rohit 59 batting) v Districts XI.
