Man falls off motorcycle, dies Crime Notes

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: A 32-year-old assistant manager of Southern Motors was killed after he lost his balance while riding across a slippery stretch of Jayanagar 8th Main Road on Monday night.

Manjunath Hegde was returning to his house in Arakere off Bannerghatta Road on his motorcycle when it started to rain.

When he reached the Jayanagar 8th Main Road around 8 p.m., a car driven by Neelesh, manager with HDFC Bank, brushed against Mr. Hegde’s motorcycle while trying to overtake it.

Manjunath lost his balance and fell down.

Mr. Neelesh immediately stopped the car and, with the help of the people, took Manjunath to a hospital nearby where he was declared dead.

Manjunath’s family was informed by someone calling himself Raju who used his phone.

“He called us using Manjunath’s mobile phone. He also returned his purse containing about Rs. 15,000,” said a colleague.

Mr. Hegde is survived by his wife and two-year-old son. The body is being sent to his native place of Siddapura in Uttara Kannada district.

The Jayanagar traffic police have registered a case.

A Kannada film producer was robbed of Rs. 15,000 in cash while he was returning in his car near Yelahanka on Monday night.

The Yelahanka police said Radhakrishna, a resident of 10th Main, 16th Cross, Vyalikaval, was returning from Devanahalli.

Two persons blocked the way and started saying that Radhakrishna had hit their scooter.

He was reportedly assaulted before being relieved of the bag containing the money.

Snatched

Two persons rendered a homemaker unconscious and made away with her gold chain worth Rs. 40,000 in Cambridge Layout on Tuesday morning.

Two men came to the house of Katyayini near Sai Baba Temple. They applied vermilion on her head, which, she said, rendered her unconscious. When she gained consciousness she found her gold chain missing.
