CBI officer to appear before court

Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday directed R.K. Agarwal, Deputy Superintendent of Police, CBI, who is investigating the Sister Abhaya death case to appear before the court on August 26.

Justice V. Ramkumar, while hearing the arguments on a petition filed by the father of the nun, orally observed that the court wanted to ask him certain questions regarding the case.

The judge had on Tuesday directed the Registrar General of the High Court to find out whether the contents of the compact disc on the narco analysis test produced by the CBI were the same as in the three separate CDs directly received by the High Court from the Forensic Science Laboratory(FSL), Bangalore.

The court had also observed that the three CDs contained more information than the CD given by the CBI.

The court had ordered that the FSL might confirm whether a single compact disc forwarded to the CBI had all the information that was in the three separate CDs or whether separate CDs were forwarded to the CBI with three separate test result reports.

‘Provide medical aid’

Justice Thottathil B.Radhakrishnan has directed the Superintendent of the Muvattupuzha Taluk Government Hospital and the officer-in-charge of the Public Health Centre to give medical aid to one Narayanan, a mentally challenged person.

The judge gave the direction while initiating suo motu proceedings on the basis of a report in a newspaper on his plight. According to the report, the 72-year-old man was living in a shed adjacent to his friend’s house.

The Muvattupuzha Taluk Legal Services Authority also gave a report on the condition of Mr. Narayanan. The government pleader submitted that he was shifted to the taluk hospital and was taken care of by Maria Sadan following the intervention of the Payipra Panchayat.

The court also directed to ensure that the condition of the old man was evaluated by a psychiatrist.
