Over 50 houses, hotel damaged in rain

DEHRA DUN: Incessant rain in the region over the past several days has damaged over 50 houses in Vikas Nagar and Kalsi areas near here, a hotel in Uttarkashi and caused land slips near Mussoorie. Water level in the Ganges was near the danger mark at Hardwar and the low-lying areas were flooded, an official said.

In Pauri town, Water-filled potholes have made driving or walking dangerous. “The problem is due to the lack of drains; water is collecting on the streets,” a resident said.

Many new colonies were submerged as ‘nallahs’ that served as a natural drainage system were encroached upon by the builders.
