NEW DELHI: To encourage students to look beyond school text-books, Triumphant Institute of Management Education is now conducting a science quiz for students across the country. “Aqua Regia-2008” is open to students of all streams from Classes VIII to X in over 35 cities. From Jammu to Thiruvananthapuram and Vadodara to Kolkata, the sharpest young minds can battle it out for prizes worth more than Rs.12 lakh and more importantly the pride of winning the biggest inter-school science quiz in the country. “The idea is to present an event that is informative, intellectually challenging and entertaining, even to the average student. We want to take learning out of the textbook and bring it into the real world,” says TIME (Delhi) Director Ulhas Vairagkar. Rounds to qualifyA school can nominate any number of teams of two members each. All participating teams have to take part in a written preliminary round that is conducted at the school itself. The top teams from each school qualify for the city finals at each city. The winners from each city finals qualify for the zonal finals and the winners of each zone qualify for the national finals in Hyderabad in November. While all the finalists will be awarded merit certificates and all students would be given participation certificates through their schools, the winners, even at the city level, will also take home cash prizes and gifts.
