Chikmagalur: rain loss put at Rs. 7.9 cr.

CHIKMAGALUR: Rain damage in Chikmagalur district during the past two months is estimated to be Rs. 7.92 crore. Three persons and 13 cattle were killed during the period in rain-related incidents.

According to a note issued by the district office, agricultural and horticulture crops on 4,477.36 acres of land have been damaged causing a loss of Rs. 1.15 crore.

In addition to this, 21 houses have collapsed and 100 houses have been partial damaged. Damage to roads has been estimated to be Rs. 5.88 crore.

According to a report, it will cost Rs. 1.55 crore to repair four culverts and four tanks. Damage due to excessive rain is more in Sringeri, N.R. Pura and Tarikere taluks of the district.

The Bhadra continues to be in spate. The water-level in the Bhadra reservoir is 185.6 ft as against the full reservoir level of 186 ft.
