DDU doctors call off strike
NEW DELHI: Resident doctors at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital called off their day-old strike on Wednesday after the Delhi Government and the hospital administration agreed to increase security at the hospital.
“The strike was called off in the afternoon after we assured the doctors that their security concerns would be looked into and that their demands for clean water and better sanitation would be taken up on a priority basis. We have requested the staff to come back to work and told them that their problems will be sorted out in four days,” said hospital Medical Superintendent Avneendra Prasad.
Trouble started at the hospital when a patient who was admitted with food poisoning on Monday night died on Tuesday morning and the relatives of the patient beat up on-duty medical staff. Following this, over 300 doctors proceeded on strike.
