BANGALORE: It is not just the private schools which secure good results in the SSLC exams. Government school may be looked down upon by parents and education experts in the State, but the Morarji Desai Navodaya Residential Schools run by the government have performed remarkably well and outshone the private schools. According to statistics provided by the Social Welfare Department officials at a function organised in Bangalore on Wednesday to mark the 93rd birth anniversary of former chief minister D. Devaraj Urs, the Morarji Desai residential school located near Hidkal dam of Belgaum district got cent per cent results with all the students clearing the exams this time. Well, the highlight of the performance is not about results, but the impressive performance. Of the 32 who appeared for SSLC exams, nine have secured distinction and the remaining 23 have got first class. This school was given the Best Residential School Award on the occasion. Similarly, three backward classes’ residential schools and a minority residential school of the government have registered cent per cent pass in the SSLC. Their achievement was acknowledged with cash awards. H. Shivalinge Gowda, a student of Navodaya school from Srirangapatna taluk, is the top scorer among all the Navodaya schools with 95.20 per cent marks. Six top scorers from the Navodaya schools were given cash awards in recognition of their impressive performance.
