BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday took a serious view of a private medical college in the State violating its orders and refusing to permit a student to appear for counselling. The court took to task the D. Devaraj Urs Medical College in Tamaka, Kolar, and sought to know why it had violated court orders. The court asked the Principal and Registrar of the college, who were present, to file an affidavit. When the matter came up, the student complained that he was not permitted to appear for the second round of the counselling for medical seats as he was barred from entering the college premises. He said he had the required merit and he would have secured an MBBS seat under the merit category. DenialThe college denied the student’s allegation, saying that he had not registered for the second round of counselling. The student said he had met with an accident and could not attend the first round of counselling. He said he had informed the college about the accident and also sought its permission to attend the second round of counselling. Justice Huluvadi G. Ramesh, who is hearing the petition, reminded the college that it had not permitted the student to appear for the second round of counselling in spite of a court order. He asked the college authorities to file an affidavit and adjourned further hearing of the case.
