NEW DELHI: The final report of the National Commission for Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes was presented to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here on Wednesday. The recommendations of the Commission was constituted in 2006, broadly relate to the provision of housing, education, skill development, creation of a permanent commission, and prevention of harassment by the police. The Commission, chaired by B.S.Renake, urged the Prime Minister to have the recommendations processed urgently for a final decision and early implementation. Dr. Singh assured the Commission members of expeditious action on the recommendations. The Commission had handed over its final report to the Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment on July 2 this year an interim report was submitted on May 31, 2007.
