TN Govt.’s gesture to Chennai Open
CHENNAI: As a platinum sponsor, the Tamil Nadu Government, on Tuesday, contributed Rs. 1 crore for the Chennai Open ATP tennis championship to be held at the SDAT-Nungambakkam Stadium here from January 5 to 11. Also, a sum of Rs. 2.5 crores will be given as an interest-free loan to meet out the Chennai Open preliminary expenses.
T.P.M. Moideen Khan, Sports and Environment Minister, on Tuesday, presented the contribution of Rs. 1 crore to the Tamil Nadu Tennis Association in the presence of M.R. Mohan, Member Secretary, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu. Joshi, Secretary, TNTA, accepted the cheque on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Tennis Association. — Principal Correspondent
