KOCHI: The Special Investigation Group-II of the Ernakulam Crime Branch arrested two more persons in connection with the case of tampering with the donation receipts of Kerala Headload Workers’ Welfare Board. Those arrested are P.S. Jalal, 45, of Mas Road, Mattanchery and Shafeeq, 25, of Kariganthuruthiparambu, Mattancherry. The case was that pool leader K.S. Jabbar and his associates collected funds for the Welfare Board and swindled more than Rs. 4 crore after tampering with the receipt book. They allegedly entered the contributions made by the workers on the receipt book without using carbon papers so that lesser amounts could be entered in the office copy and thus remit only that much to the board. The first accused Jabbar is on bail in this case.
