Call to strengthen bilateral trade Kerala projected as ideal investment destination THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The visiting Venezuelan delegation headed by Vice-Minister for Popular Power for Telecommunications and Informatics Layla Macc Adan interacted with the Technopark authorities and the Group of Technopark Companies here on Wednesday. The delegation was here to study the IT Industry and evolution of free and open source software in Kerala. During the interactions, the Minister stressed the need for both Kerala and Venezuela to share information on the creation of knowledge societies and the role of the IT Industry in creating an enabling environment for growth and equity. Chief Executive Officer of Technopark N. Radhakrishnan Nair said that Kerala, with its core strength in information technology, was better positioned to partner with Venezuela. He called for enhanced cooperation and dialogue to strengthen bilateral trade in the IT sector. Mr. Nair added that Kerala provided the ideal investment destination with quality education, a technologically-enabled growth environment and skilled workforce. Mr. Satish Babu, Secretary, GTECH, said that Venezuela could replicate the Kerala model of implementation of software solutions for the benefit of society and thereby create an economic environment that was sustainable, inclusive and equitable. Members of the delegation included Venezuelan government experts in information technology and officials from the Embassy of Venezuela in India.
