BANGALORE: A woman, who was married two months ago, was found hanging in her house at Arundati Nagar slum in Chandra Layout on Tuesday. Puttalaxmi (18) of Kunigal married Shivalingaiah, a vegetable vendor, in June. She was in her parents’ house for a month and returned home 10 days ago. She was being allegedly harassed by her husband to bring dowry. Unable to bear the harassment, she allegedly committed suicide. Puttalaxmi’s parents have held Shivalingaiah responsible for their daughter’s death. They have said this in their statements given to the police and to the tahsildar during an inquiry. Shivalingaiah is absconding. RobberyThree persons were relieved of cash and cellphones by a two-member gang near Gollarahatti in Tavarekere on Tuesday. Shashikumar, electrician, was walking home when two persons attacked him and relieved him of Rs. 305 and a cellphone. Later, the two persons attacked Nirmal and relieved him of Rs. 880 and a cellphone. They attacked another person and relieved him of cash and cellphone. ArrestedThe Gangammanagudi police have arrested three persons and recovered a motorcycle, three knives, and ornaments worth Rs. 50,000 from them. The police said C. Satyavelu (19), K. Ramesh (23) and T. Ravi (20) were involved in a robbery case in Gangammanagudi and in a vehicle theft case in Rajagopal Nagar.
