17,958 identified for repatriation

GO 610: Non-locals identified from data furnished by 5.12 lakh employees

‘State has agreed to issue orders repatriating non-locals in 10 days’

HYDERABAD: For the first time, the State government has come out with the official figure of 17,958, as the number of employees identified for repatriation to their respective local areas under the Six Point Formula. Chief Secretary P. Ramakanth Reddy informed the House Committee to Monitor Implementation of GO 610 at its meeting here on Thursday that these non-locals were identified from the data furnished by the 5.12 lakh government employees.

Out of these, 9,106 had been issued repatriation orders and 7,464 relieved. However, only 5,028 had joined their new places of posting while 2,479 had obtained interim orders from the AP Administrative Tribunal.

Members of the Committee headed by N. Uttam Kumar Reddy recommended that the government should take steps to begin the process of creating 17,958 posts that were held by non-locals. They wanted the government to take up corrective measures as the Presidential Order of 1975 had been violated.

The meeting was informed that the Chief Minister had directed the Advocate General to take necessary action to get the interim orders in the APAT vacated. Further, it was pointed out that the Public Sector Undertakings had resolved to implement the spirit of Presidential Order, which will bring close to five lakh employees under the order.

Amendment

The Chief Secretary noted that the government had forwarded the proposal to the Centre for amendment to Presidential Order, so as to bring the APSRTC within its purview. Localisation proposals were also sent to the Centre for the department of Town and Country Planning.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy said the government had agreed to issue orders repatriating all the non-locals in the next 10 days.
