This Day That Age
The Railway Board was preparing a review of accidents on Indian railways over the last 20 years and it would be placed before the Members of Parliament, Mr. Jagjivan Ram, Railway Minister, told the Rajya Sabha on August 21. He said, “We are anxious and sorry for the accidents that have been taking place and we have taken steps to inculcate a sense of responsibility amongst the staff connected with the running of trains.” He also said that the general managers of railways were now authorised to take quick action in cases where, due to failure of the human element, accidents had been caused.
