Speed post delivery on Sundays too

CHENNAI: Delivery of speed post articles will be taken up on Sundays and holidays in residential areas falling under the jurisdiction of T.Nagar and Mylapore Head Post Office from Sunday. The facility is already available in Anna Nagar post office.

A release from the Chennai City Central Division of the Postal Department said speed post articles received from until early hours of Sunday would be delivered in the above areas by 10 a.m. Since government establishments and corporate houses would remain closed, the Department of Posts had targeted only residential areas.

No additional cost

No extra cost would be levied from the public for delivery of such articles as postmen identified exclusively for the service would utilised.

Based on the feedback from the public, the scheme would be extended to other important areas of the city, the release said.
