Suspected dengue cases put health officials on alert
HYDERABAD: With suspected cases of dengue being reported at a few private hospitals in twin cities and outskirts and one confirmed case this month, district health officials have advised the public to take precautions to keep the ailment at bay. A few precautionary measures are all it takes to avert diarrhoea, viral fevers and dengue, they maintain.
Officials informed that this month one dengue case was confirmed and from April till date, six confirmed dengue cases were detected in the city. The situation has not spiralled out of control, as far as a dengue outbreak in the twin cities is concerned, officials clarified.
“So far dengue has been in control in the city. Since this is a season for diarrhoea and viral fevers, such cases are being reported. From our side, efforts are on to keep a check on such seasonal ailments. All the high risk areas in the city are being frequently visited by our teams,” assures District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) Dr. CH. Jaya Kumari.
Authorities cautioned patients visiting private hospitals about the tendency in such hospitals to treat even a viral fever as a dengue case because the symptoms of both are almost similar.
