NEW DELHI: A man allegedly involved in more than 45 cases of murder, robbery and kidnapping has been arrested along with his two accomplices by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police. The Jharkhand police had announced a reward of Rs.5 lakh on his head. A tender mafia, Anil Sharma was awarded life sentence in a murder case and was lodged in a Ranchi jail. Faking a heart ailment, he got himself admitted to a hospital and in connivance with his accomplices Sunil, Karu and Kanhaiya escaped from there on the night of May 22. He fled to Hazaribagh and then to Kolkata. Sunil and Karu later surrendered. Anil then came to the Capital. Following the leads provided by their Jharkhand counterparts, the Special Cell found that he would come to Sector 10 of Dwarka to meet his accomplices on Wednesday. Subsequently a trap was laid and Anil was arrested along with Kanhaiya and Uma Shankar Prasad Sinha. During interrogation, Anil purportedly disclosed that he was initially into the business of government contracts. He gradually became a tender mafia in Jharkhand. In 1988, he and his accomplices murdered a rival, Binno, in Ranchi. While in jail, he allegedly murdered an inmate. He was in jail since 1997, but had been running the show from behind the bars.
