Modernisation of two airports from September

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Work on modernisation and expansion of the Kolkata and Chennai airports will begin by September-end, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said on Thursday.

Talking to journalists after inaugurating the third runway at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here, he said: “Physical construction should begin by the end of September.”

Airport charges

Asked about Delhi International Airport Limited and Mumbai International Airport Limited seeking an increase of up to 10 per cent in airport charges, Mr. Patel said the issue was before the Ministry. Based on certain parameters a “judicious decision” would be taken.
