CHIKMAGALUR: People from remote areas of Chikmagalur taluk in the Malnad region were vociferous in their demand for KSRTC buses to their villages on Thursday. Airing their grievances at a transport adalat organised by the KSRTC here, they said that the buses plying on the Chikmagalur-Muthodi-Jagara route were in bad condition and often involved in accidents.A resident of Melinahuluvathi near the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary said that there was only one bus to his village. It reached the village at midnight and people had to walk three km to their houses through the forest. They expressed dissatisfaction over the deplorable condition of the road between Muthodi and Jagara. The road had not been repaired for the past two decades, they said. Officials said funds had been granted and work on the road would commence soon. People living along Bababudangiri-Kemmannagundi road said that they were depending on a single bus that was irregular.
