This Day That Age
A team of two special officers has been appointed by the Government of India to collate information regarding the irrigation potential created by multi-purpose and medium irrigation projects, and the area actually irrigated, or to be irrigated by them during the First and the Second Plan periods. The team will submit reports relating to each project to the Central Water and Power Commission of the Union Minister of Irrigation and Power by the end of November, 1958. The decisions taken by the Government on the proposals are expected to be implemented before March 1959. This step has been taken with a view to devising measures for full utilisation of the irrigation potential, which has been created, or will be created, by irrigation projects during the two Plan periods.
