Press Academy told to conduct classes on latest technology in photography Competitions for sports and cultural photographers to be held from next year HYDERABAD: Information Minister A. Ramanarayan Reddy has offered to extend government assistance to Press Academy if it goes ahead with the plan to publish books containing old photographs reflecting the State’s history through the years. Speaking at a function on Friday after distributing prizes to winners of the State-level photography competitions held on August 19 to mark World Photography Day, he highlighted the importance of photos in newspaper journalism, saying that they conveyed the message effectively and fully compared to a report. He advised the Press Academy to conduct classes on the latest technology available in photography and print brochures in Telugu to educate mofussil cameramen on operation latest digital cameras. He promised to open the contest for sports and cultural photographers from next year and increase the prize money in all categories. D. Amar, chairman, Press Academy, said the academy would publish books containing the old photos taken by G. Srinivasulu and Neelamraju Muralidhar, who had captured various events and personalities in their lens during their long stint in journalism. C. Parthasarathy, Commissioner, Information & Public Relations, said they had received 1,150 entries for the contest, making the selection for prizes a tough job.
