NEW DELHI: Former Chief Election Commissioner, T.S. Krishnamurthy, has started his inquiry into the dope test issue of weightlifter Monika Devi, who was prevented from going to the Beijing Olympic Games at the last moment. The Union Sports Minister, M.S. Gill, had ordered the inquiry. Mr. Krishnamurthy met various officials of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports on August 18. He also met the officials of the Sports Authority of India (SAI). On Thursday he met Monika he is scheduled to meet the officials of the Indian Weightlifting Federation on August 26. Monika is yet to submit a written representation. Monika, who had accused SAI of sabotaging her tests and pleaded her innocence, has been exonerated by the Indian federation. — Special Correspondent
