High Court directs police not to arrest swamiji
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Friday directed the Mysore police not to arrest or harass Ganapathy Sachidananda Swamiji of Avadhoota Datta Peetha.
The Mysore police had registered a case against the swamiji and arrested him following a complaint filed by Anil Kumar, owner of a resort adjoining the swamiji’s ashram in Mysore. In his complaint, Mr. Anil Kumar had alleged that the swamiji had encroached upon the land adjoining the ashram. Later, the swamiji had filed an appeal before the High Court. Justice Mohan Shantanagouder, in his interim order, had earlier stayed proceedings against the swamji and adjourned further hearing on the case. When the matter came up on Friday, he permitted the police to continue investigation into the case but asked them not arrest the swamiji or harass him.
