Star-studded event: Actors Srinath, Sudeep and Puneet Rajkumar at the launch of iPhone 3G in Bangalore on Friday. BANGALORE: Airtel, the leading mobile service provider in the country, on Friday announced the launch of the much anticipated iPhone 3G in the State. iPhone 3G combines all the revolutionary features of iPhone plus 3G networking that is twice as fast, built-in GPS for expanded location-based mobile services and iPhone 2.0 software which includes support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and runs hundreds of third party applications available through the new App Store, according to a release. Kannada actors Puneet Rajkumar, Sudeep and Srinath were present at the launch. “We are delighted to launch the iconic iPhone for all customers in Karnataka,” said V. Venkatesh, CEO, Mobile Services, Bharti Airtel Ltd., Karnataka. “Airtel has been at the forefront of innovation and customer delight in the Indian telecom sector. Introducing iPhone 3G to India further underscores our commitment to enrich the communication experience of all Airtel users,” he said. Amlan Mandal, a software engineer from Bangalore, the first Airtel iPhone customer in Karnataka, was delighted. Expressing his joy, he said: “I am thrilled to be the first lucky Airtel iPhone customer in Karnataka. I am an ardent iPhone lover and was eagerly waiting for the Airtel iPhone launch since my booking. My wait is now over and I am looking forward to enjoying the new Airtel iPhone experience.” The Airtel iPhone will be priced at Rs. 31,000 for 8 GB and Rs. 36,100 for 16 GB. The 16GB phone will be available in two colours — black and white. Customers can purchase the iPhone 3G from Airtel Relationship Centres across Karnataka.
