Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Friday sanctioned Rs. 25,000 from the General Relief Fund to Yavasri, a girl belonging to the Scheduled Castes and residing in the Nallur village panchayat of Tiruvallur district, for her higher education.

The Chief Minister’s action was in response to a report that despite securing admission in an engineering college, she could not join the course.

Monthly pension

Another official release stated that Mr. Karunanidhi had directed the Villupuram district collector to issue orders on Friday, granting a monthly pension of Rs.400 to five differently abled persons of Sathanandal village and providing assistance to three school students.

The Chief Minister also asked all District Collectors to identify such differently abled persons and make arrangements immediately for providing assistance to them.
