PUDUCHERRY: Third Additional District Judge V. Arumugham on Friday posted hearing in the Kanchi Sankararaman murder case to September 24. District Public Prosecutor K. Shanmugham informed the court that the territorial administration was in the process of appointing a public prosecutor. The Supreme Court, while disposing of the Special Leave Petition filed by Jayendra Saraswathi, objecting the appearance of the Tamil Nadu public prosecutor in the case, had directed the Puducherry government to appoint a public prosecutor. When the case came up for hearing on Friday, only eight of the 24 accused were present. — Staff Reporter
