Coast Guard warning to fishermen

NAGAPATTINAM: The Coast Guard and the police have warned fishermen along the Nagapattinam coast not to cross the territorial boundary while venturing into the sea. Stern action will be taken against fishermen violating the rules, police sources told The Hindu on Friday. Five fishermen of Nagore were caught by a Coast Guard patrol vessel on Thursday and handed over to the Vedaranyam police.

The district administration and the Fisheries Department had warned fishermen that they would be arrested if they ventured into the sea without identity cards. — Special Correspondent
