Villagers block sand lorries

VELLORE: Villagers in and around Kavasambattu in K.V. Kuppam police station limits blocked the lorries transporting sand from the government quarry on the Palar river bed in Kavasambattu to Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh on Friday morning.

The public alleged that contractors from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh were transporting sand far in excess of the quantity for which they had paid the amount.
