Ritwik knocked out

HYDERABAD: Siddharth Suchde knocked out second-seeded Ritwik Bhattacharya 11-6, 7-11, 11-8, 11-4 in 54 minutes in the men’s second semifinal of the 56th ICL senior National squash championship for men and women at the Secunderabad Club, here on Friday.

Siddarth was more focussed and determined. Compounding Ritwik’s misery was the injury he suffered in the fourth game. He seemed to lose focus in the 25-minute injury-time he got. Siddarth on the other hand was in no mood to relax and expectedly clinched the issue.

Reigning champion Joshna Chinappa of Tamil Nadu outclassed her young Statemate Anaka Alankamony 11-7, 11-6, 11-5 in the women’s singles.he women’s final will be a repeat of last edition as Dipika Pallikal (Tamil Nadu) took 25 minutes to quell the challenge of her Statemate Anwesha Reddy 11-6, 11-7, 11-8 in the other semifinal.

In the other men’s singles semifinal, defending champion Saurav Ghosal, looking for his fourth straight title, had to put his best foot forward in the third game before wrapping up a 11-8, 11-4, 14-12 win over Harrinder Pal Singh of Tamil Nadu.
