Bilva scores century

M. Bilva Prasath was unbeaten on 118 as Districts II ended the first day of its TNCA round-robin under-19 match against City I at 277 for six.

In the other match played on Friday, Districts I lost seven wickets in scoring 244 against City II, for whom D. Giripal took three wickets.

The scores: Districts II 277 for six in 90 overs (M. Bilva Prasath 118 batting, T. Vignesh Pathy 59) vs. City I; Districts I 244 for seven in 81 overs (S. Venkatvasan 45, R. Vivek 29, A.C. Prathiban 58, Kevin Sukumar 31, J. Nijin 29 batting, D. Giripal three for 46) vs. City II.

Athletics meet

St. Joseph’s College of Engineering will conduct the South Zone inter-Collegiate athletics championship for men and women at its ground on August 25 and 26.

The meet, open for athletes of all the arts, science and engineering colleges in southern India, will have nineteen events for women and 22 for women.

Dr. Babu Manoharan, director of the college, said on Thursday that 53 colleges in men and 17 in the women’s section had send in their confirmation about participation.
