Vice-Chancellor J.A.K. Tareen releases Campus News CD prepared by students

Chemistry department facilitated with an amount of Rs.3 crore towards research


PUDUCHERRY: The third session of ‘Know Your University’ programme was conducted at the Pondicherry University on Friday with presentations from the departments of Hindi, Chemistry and Sanskrit.

Puduvai Vaani

Releasing the Campus News CD on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor of the University J.A.K. Tareen announced that Puduvai Vaani, the FM Community Radio Station of the University would be launched during the next week.

The Campus News CD was prepared by the students of the University and it reports the ongoing activities of the institution, said a release.

At the ‘Know Your University’ programme, each department/centre of the University offer an overall view of the work and achievements highlighting the novel features and accomplishments of students and research scholars.

The departments provided an overview of the various programmes and achievements and showcased their academic activities.

Good record in placement

Head of Department, Chemistry P. Sambasiva Rao said that almost all students of the department qualify with distinction for examinations of CSIR, UGC-JRF and GATE and were getting placement in companies.

The department had been facilitated with an amount of Rs.3 crore by DST, CSIR, UGC and other academic bodies towards research.

Hindi and Sanskrit

Head of Hindi department Vizialakshmi and Head of Sanskrit department Chakradhar Behra highlighted the activities of their departments.

Co-ordinator of the programme S. Murali spoke on the occasion.
