Learning to teach: Programme Officers of National Service Scheme and Community Service Scheme attending a training in life skills on Saturday. PUDUCHERRY: Aiming to impart training in life skills to students, a two-day camp for programme officers of National Service Scheme (NSS) and Community Service Scheme (CSS) from schools and colleges was inaugurated on Saturday. The Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Sriperumbudur in collaboration with NSS, Puducherry organised the camp on life skills training for 54 programme officers of NSS and CSS from Puducherry, Karaikal, Yanam and Mahe. “The training will mainly focus on communication, leadership, personality development and other life skills. InaugurationIt is a training of trainers programme and these participants will in turn train the students on life skills,” State Liaison Officer of NSS E.M. Rajan said. The camp was inaugurated by the Director of School Education G. Ragesh Chandra. “The NSS and CSS are operating in 185 institutions in Puducherry with 234 programme officers and 19,950 volunteers. Till date, we were sending our teachers to Chennai and Sriperumbudur for periodical training in life skills,” he said. Training officer from Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development P. Sivakumar spoke on the scope of the training.
