Release Swagruha money: TDP

Staff Reporter

Party alleges Rs. 1 crore of the Rs. 2 crore compensation being cornered by bogus claimants

ADILABAD: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Saturday demanded the release of compensation to ‘genuine’ farmers of Battisawargaon village whose lands were acquired by the government for construction of houses under the Rajiv Swagruha programme. Party leaders demanded immediate completion of the inquiry into the allegation regarding bogus compensation claims made by local revenue officials.

Telugu Rythu district president B. Goverdhan Reddy and TDP spokesman Jogu Ramanna told reporters that an inquiry was ordered into the bogus claims. The inquiry revealed that as much as Rs. 1 crore of the Rs. 2 crore compensation was in the process of being cornered by bogus claimants in collusion with authorities. Because of delay , even genuine farmers were being denied compensation, they added.
