Janmashtami celebrations

HUBLI: The ISKCON temple at Rayapur near Hubli will conduct daylong programmes on its premises on Sunday as part of Sri Krishna Janmashtami.

President of ISKCON Hubli-Dharwad Rajiv Lochan Das has said in a press release that activities at the temple will begin at 4 a.m. on Sunday with “mangalarati” of Lord Krishna and Balarama followed by special “Vrindavana alankara” to the idols.

There will be “Krishnotsava”, a fancy dress competition for children at 10 a.m., after which there will be classical dances, bhajans, Yakshagana and vocal music renditions by devotees, he has said. The celebrations will conclude with “maha mangala” of “maha abhisheka” at midnight.
