Cuttack: Faced with all-round criticism for not able to unravel the mystery behind the death of mass communication student Asima Mohanty for last five days, the Cuttack police on Saturday raided some video parlours in the city and seized an unsubstantial amount of porno CDs and literature. “Raids on video parlors located in the vicinity of Badambadi are continuing and we have seized certain CDs,” said the Madhupatna police station inspector R K Prusty. The parlour owner however, escaped from the spot. The police are now verifying the CDs but are yet to seize any CD containing the objectionable photographs of the girl, sources said. Special squads of the police have not got any information about key accused Tinu Sahu. Asima reportedly committed suicide on Monday after she was subjected to blackmailing. Police claim that they have raided almost all possible hideouts of Tinu, an automobile engineering student. Yet there has been no trace of Tinu or his friends. Police on Saturday rounded up some acquaintances of Tinu and they were however, released after quizzing. The city police came under severe criticism from the State Woman Commission chief Namita Panda for their slipshod attitude in dealing with such a sensational case. Even the city unit of opposition Congress threatened to gherao the local police station demanding arrest of the main accused in the case within 48 hours. Girl rescuedIn another development, some locals rescued another teenaged girl lying in an unconscious state from Bhanpur area. The 17-year-old girl belonging to a nearby area was handed over to her family members, who allege that the girl’s tutor had lured her under the pretext of marriage but later dumped her.
