Retrospective of Cuban filmmaker

NEW DELHI: The Centre for European and Latin American Studies and AJK Mass Communication Research Centre at Jamia Millia Islamia in collaboration with the Embassy of Cuba has put together a retrospective of Cuban filmmaker Tomás Gutiérrez Alea.

As part of the festival that began on Saturday, two films will be showcased at the old MCRC studio on Sunday. While “Strawberry and Chocolate” will be screened at 11 a.m., “Twelve Chairs” is scheduled to be shown at 2 p.m.

The first film captures the relationship that gradually develops between the flamboyantly gay Diego and a young, politically committed university student David. “Twelve Chairs” has been adapted from a popular Russian novel of the same name.

All the films have subtitles in English.
