Education Minister to inaugurate fete Seminars on free software to be held THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Under the aegis of the GNU/Linux User Group Trivandrum and Zyxware Technologies, a GNU/Linux Install Fest will be organised at the Technopark from September 1 to 5. The fest is aimed at Technopark employees who are yet to join the free software movement. Education Minister M.A. Baby will inaugurate the fest at the Park Centre on September 1. IT professionals at the Technopark can get Linux software installed on their laptop at the fest. They can choose between various software such as Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Opensuse and Mandriva. Visitors will be able to try out various free software distributions and to play games based on free software. Experts in free software will be on hand to answer queries from visitors. There will be seminars on free software as part of the fest. The fest is being promoted by the Kerala State IT Mission, the Free Software Foundation of India, BSNL and SPACE Kerala. GLUG Trivandrum also maintains a mailing list — ilug-tvm@googlegroups — where people can sign up to get support relating to free software.
