KARUR: Collector T.N. Venkatesh has urged the public and the beneficiaries under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP) not to lend an ear to rumours on getting full wages for less outturn. In a release issued here on Saturday, Mr. Venkatesh has pointed out that the programme was being implemented in the district from April 2007 and that the minimum recommended wage of Rs.80 at least 60 per cent more than that of the Public Works Department schedule of rates. The execution of a work that was 37.50 per cent less than the PWD schedules would entitle a beneficiary to a maximum of Rs.80. Moreover, the quantum of work a beneficiary had to do for getting Rs.80 as full wages has come down considerably when compared to the last two years. When compared to the pervious two years, a worker has to execute 13.30 per cent less work to get the full benefits in the current year, Mr. Venkatesh has observed. When compared to other states, the quantum of work a beneficiary had to undertake was pretty less in Tamil Nadu. Also, it has been ensured that the beneficiaries get the wages for the quantum of work they had undertaken. But some miscreants were spreading rumours that without doing the complete work the full wages of Rs. 80 could be got.If there was any complaint with regard to disbursal of wages or fixing of wages, then they might contact the relevant officials for getting their grievances redressed.
