Delhi BJP goes hi-tech in run-up to assembly elections

This brings the Delhi unit office in direct contact with the national headquarters

NEW DELHI: In order to fine tune its communication system ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party has installed an advanced network for ensuring two-way communication from the Delhi BJP office with the district offices and office-bearers. It has also brought the Delhi unit office in direct contact with the national headquarters and the office set up at the residence of its Prime Ministerial candidate for the next general elections L.K. Advani.

Realising the importance of uninterrupted and reliable communication during politicking, BJP has installed in-house servers at the Pradesh office at Pandit Pant Marg. “Through this system I can talk to over 30 people at one go. This also brings me in direct and simultaneous touch with all the 16 district presidents and secretaries,” said Delhi BJP president Harsh Vardhan.

The new communication system has made convening meetings extremely easy for BJP leaders. “The calls can be made through the computer using the internet and meetings can be arranged in a matter of minutes,” Dr. Vardhan said.

The system also has a unique feature that allows sending SMS messages to between 50,000 and one lakh party workers at the same time. “This has allowed us an opportunity to mobilise large number of workers for a cause at a very short notice.”

Dr. Vardhan said the system has also improved communication between the Delhi office and the BJP headquarters at Ashok Road, where too a tower has been erected. The third tower has been constructed at the office of Mr. Advani, who is being projected by the party as its prime ministerial candidate.

The communication system, that would provide teleconferencing between different users, is expected to become fully functional by the end of this month. Around the same time, a website would also be launched by the party. It has been designed by the BJP for reaching out to the voters, workers and other leaders during the elections. The site would give comprehensive information about the party, its ideals and its programmes.
