BANGALORE: Two children of a Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) constable were arrested on the charge of snatching the chain of a woman. The incident occurred near HSR Layout bus stand on Friday night. Karuna, a software engineer, got down from the company’s vehicle and started walking to her house when two persons, following her, snatched her chain, worth Rs. 40,000. When Ms. Karuna screamed for help, KSRP inspector Subbaiah, his son Swagath and the latter’s friend Deepak gave a chase and caught Raghavendra and Mahesh. ArrestedThe Basaveshwaranagar police arrested a 36-year-old man on the charge of cheating. According to the police, C. Krishna posing as one from a well-to-do family promised people loans and marketed insurance policies for commission. He called Nagaraj Rao, a resident of Basaveshwaranagar, and offered him an insurance policy. Krishna mentioned his name as Girish and filled in Mr. Nagaraj Rao’s form. He made Mr. Nagaraj Rao pay him Rs. 55,000 in cash for treatment of his (Krishna’s) friend. In return, Krishna gave Mr. Nagaraj Rao two cheques that he had received from a person who wanted a loan. Mr. Nagaraj Rao filed a complaint with the Basaveshwaranagar police when the cheques bounced.
